What's Your Favorite Age?
I'm only a couple hours into 28. So far, so good. I've had donuts, flowers, hugs and songs. Even my bosses are easing up on riding my a** today (although that could change at a moment's notice.)
28 is good.
Up until today, 27 had been my favorite age. A year ripe with heartache and hard lessons, it was an age that really helped steer me in the direction I know with which I'll be most happy. 27 was one of those make-it-or-break-it years for me, and I am proud to say I made it.
I hated 26. I hated 22. I hated 16. But I moved on from all my toils and troubles and now can bask in the glory of being decidedly late 20s.
Late 20s.
I don't know how I feel about that. It's a phrase that echoes like the slamming of a big door on the vault of my childhood. My dad sent me an e-mail just today saying 28 means I'm still a kid... that I really don't have to be a "full fledged" grown-up until I hit 35 or so (tell that to my boss and landlord, Dad!) But in my book, 28 is chock full of responsibilities.
And I'm okay with that.
In itself, another sign of maturity.
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Are you 28 yet? What's that age like for you? When's your favorite age? Do you look forward to a year ahead (I think the collective 30s sound delicious)? Do you reminisce on a particular phase of "way-back-when?"
I'd love to hear about it ;)

Happy Birthday Kate! Best wishes for a great year.
I'm only 22. And you said it was one of your worst years. Was it specifically because of your age, or bad things just happened to happen that year to make it bad?
So far, I think my best year has been 20. Hitting 21 didn't make much difference for me, because I rarely drink any alcohol. I'm looking forward to 25. I'm told it is a turning point. I think I'll enjoy being thought of as an adult. Right now, I'm just a college student. Not a kid, but not an adult either. Being in limbo has never been very satisfying for me.
Great post!
Teens - wild and full of way too much angst, but 17 was a lovely year, full of romance and poetry
20s - single parenting (see "wild" above) and full of way too much responsibility, university classes, welfare, low-paying jobs. Ugh.
30's - worked for hellish bosses (my "computer nazis" as I not-so-fondly call them) but then hit mid-30's and things really started looking up - found job I loved, man I loved, got married, had another baby, moved to Texas...busy, exciting times.
But oh, my 40s. I am having the best time of my life. More confident, less angst-ridden, sexually & emotionally so much more comfortable, creative, loved...even better than 17 was!
Hey Kate! I REALLY loved 27, 28 and 29. I got married halfway through 29. 30 was good. 31 started getting rocky. The rest of my early to mid 30's were REALLY rocky. New babies, new body, new homes, new career (for hubby)...Almost too much. Late 30's have been better. But I have to say that as much as I LOVED the early 20's, I think I enjoyed the late 20's better. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthay to yoooooooooooooou! Happy birthday toooooooooooooooooooooo yooooooooooooou! Happy birthday, dear Kate! Happy birthday toooooooooooooooooooooooooooo yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooou!
And many more on channel four
With Scooby Doo in channel two!
Happy belated birthday!
I will say that, currently, 29 sucks.
25 was a good age. I could rent cars (not that I ever have). I had a real job. Some money. It felt good.
